The Benefit of the Free Man

Custom lettering and illustration were mashed together with watercolour stock art to create the final cover. We also created experimental “poster case” packaging, which allows a 11×17″ poster to hold the CD and does triple duty as a display case for merchandise tables. Good Friday Show Poster

This illustrated show poster was created to represent a night of hip-hop, jazz, indie rock and psychedelic folk music. The imagery itself is inspired by Haolin Munk’s (one of the artists on the bill) colourful performance attire, Heinz Edelmann (think Beatles – Yellow Submarine), Haida art, and that bird boss in Super Mario 2.
